Hi, I'm Caroline and here I will talk about my experiences with youth activism. I am not that well-known on media and such, but I have had my fair share of activism including from myself and doing research about it. I love reading articles on achievements the youth have made in my society with activism and seeing their effects. Involvement Some things I have participated in are Operation Kindness, LBGTQ+ Parades, and Military Fundraisers. I vocalize a lot about these things to people and we have very in depth conversations about the topics. I have very strong opinions on things such as LGBTQ+ rights and Animal rights. There are many other things I have also done throughout my life while growing up and developing as a person. The Group In the beginning of the project, I had no idea who anyone was at all. Edmodo was a very helpful website which we talked on and posted on. I loved talking on there, getting responses from other people, and working together with combining our ideas to create multiple products and such. Overall In conclusion, this project was so beneficial for me in many ways. First of all, I got way better communication skills by talking with the others in my group, I found out easy ways to communicate online no matter how far away we are, and lastly, I gained multiple different perspectives and ideas during the project which left me thinking. :)

I don’t like the Idea of having to have a name to make a difference Im just a normal human being helping others. Some ways I like to help others is I volunteer at a local animal shelter (Operation Kindness) and foster cats sure I help them but I don’t think I advocate for them I just protect them. I am a freshman at new Tech and helping people who can’t help themselves or don’t know how is what I want to do when I grow up, by becoming a police officer. I hope that in the future that we won’t need a name or a label because it will be so common that it will just be human beings helping other human beings. Growing With My GroupI didn't know what youth activism was before this project but as I continued to talk to my peers and work on projects in English and Digital Media I not only learned the meaning of youth activism but the importance of it as well. My group members helped me gain a better point of view and learn to look at all point of views. Youth ActivismMy high school (New Tech @ Coppell High) has really allowed me as a Freshman to get involved in topics I care about and come up with real world solutions to those topics. I personally have a big interest in politics around the globe and equal opportunity/rights for all individuals. New Tech has done a really good job at reminding me of my privilege and showing me ways that I can give back and help others. My English and Digital Media classes at New Tech are the reason that I have had the chance to collaborate with these students and delve into my passions. Group CollaborationThis group has really exposed me to different perspectives on all kinds of issues. This allows me and my peers to come up with solutions that help many people, not just ourselves. Over Edmodo we have discussed our opinions on immigration, equal rights, and the importance of standing up. We have pushed each other to use our voices and showed each other ways to do so. I'm so lucky I got to collaborate with such unique individuals and I know that the things they have said will really stick with me. Opening My EyesWhile talking to my group members on Edmodo I was able to discover the We The Future Campaign. This campaign focuses on 10 youth activists who focus on 10 different civic issues they're passionate about. The foundation dedicates links to each youth activist and illustrates ways individuals can get involved. I'm so thankful me peers shared this resource with me and gave me all these opportunities.
